Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin announced Thursday that many Americans will start seeing their $1,200 stimulus payments show up in their bank accounts within two weeks, USA Today reports. Americans who already have bank direct deposit information on file with the government, ostensibly through the IRS, will be the first to receive the payments. Mnuchin said that those who don't have don't have direct deposit will have physical checks mailed within "weeks." Democrats on the House Ways and Means Committee had released a memo saying they were told by the IRS that some Americans wold have to wait up to 20 weeks to receive payments, but Mnuchin said it was "not going to take" that long. "Quickly, as a matter of weeks and not months," Mnuchin said of the money going out.
