Don McLean is up in arms after UCLA announced it was giving him an award on Monday--then took it back hours later because of his 2016 domestic abuse arrest. "Dear UCLA, You awarded me your George and Ira Gershwin Lifetime Achievement Award and then took it back because you found out about my squabble with my ex-wife. This has been all over the internet for three years. Are you people morons?" the 73-year-old "American Pie" singer wrote late Monday on Facebook. "Don’t ever come near me again unless you offer me an apology for the damage you have done me. I am guilty of nothing to do with assault and you had better make that clear." BBC News notes that McLean pled guilty to domestic violence assault after that arrest as part of a plea agreement. McLean also seemed to make a joke about the college admissions scandal by adding, "Maybe I need to give you some bribe money to grease the college wheels."
