DAWG provides a safe and loving environment for dogs awaiting permanent adoption, and promotes their adoption through outreach programs in the Santa Barbara community.
Most of the dogs in our care come from Santa Barbara county shelters. Our primary goal is to reduce the rate of euthanasia in the county shelters by providing the medical care and training many dogs need for a second chance at life.
Since DAWG’s inception in 1991, we have worked hard to bring out the best in our dogs, improving their quality of life during their stay at the shelter, and placing healthy, well-behaved dogs back into the community.
Dog of the Week
Bambi a smiley two year old Pit mix who is known around the shelter for her silly wiggle dance! She is very social with people but does have reservations when meeting other dogs. With a little help from her human and a calm introduction, Bambi could entertain her furry friends with her infectious smile and willingness to play. Bambi is most proud of her on-leash skills and would make a great walking/hiking/running partner! Though this energetic girl loves the outdoors, she thinks that there is nothing like cuddling next to her human after a day of exploring. If this smiley girl sounds like your perfect companion please call Dog Adoption & Welfare Group at (805) 681-0561 or e-mail us at firstname.lastname@example.org
