DAWG provides a safe and loving environment for dogs awaiting permanent adoption, and promotes their adoption through outreach programs in the Santa Barbara community.
Most of the dogs in our care come from Santa Barbara county shelters. Our primary goal is to reduce the rate of euthanasia in the county shelters by providing the medical care and training many dogs need for a second chance at life.
Since DAWG’s inception in 1991, we have worked hard to bring out the best in our dogs, improving their quality of life during their stay at the shelter, and placing healthy, well-behaved dogs back into the community.
Dog of the Week
My name is Brownie, and I'm a 3 year old Chihuahua Mix who is as tiny as can be! I came to DAWG from a shelter up in Lompoc, I was there with my brother and best friend Shadow, who is also up for adoption here at DAWG. When I first came in, I were very timid and didn't want anyone to come near us. Slowly but surely I warmed up to our new people friends here at DAWG! Currently I am spending my days in Little Dog Land hanging with little dogs of all kinds. I am now ready to my forever home with a loving family. I can be adopted separately but if you fall in love with my brother Shadow you can get us both! If you want to meet me, please call Dog Adoption and Welfare Group at (805) 681-0561 or stop by Thursday-Monday 12-5PM!
