DAWG provides a safe and loving environment for dogs awaiting permanent adoption, and promotes their adoption through outreach programs in the Santa Barbara community.
Most of the dogs in our care come from Santa Barbara county shelters. Our primary goal is to reduce the rate of euthanasia in the county shelters by providing the medical care and training many dogs need for a second chance at life.
Since DAWG’s inception in 1991, we have worked hard to bring out the best in our dogs, improving their quality of life during their stay at the shelter, and placing healthy, well-behaved dogs back into the community.
Dog of the Week
This gorgeous gal goes by the name Pennie. She is a three year old female, Chocolate Lab mix. She is very appreciative of her foster dad who has been teaching her how be a well-adjusted, balanced dog. Pennie has an extremely sweet disposition; she is loyal and loves all people and kids. In the home Pennie is a perfect girl and will not jump on any couches or beds unless she is invited. She also knows her manners in the kitchen so you won’t ever catch her counter-surfing for scraps. Outside of the home environment Pennie is wonderful both on and off leash so there is no fear of her running away from you! She knows how to play with big and little dogs but if there are no four-legged friends for her to interact with Pennie will play fetch for hours if you let her. All she needs now is a loving home to call her own. If you are interested in this wonderful gal please call Dog Adoption & Welfare Group at (805) 681-0561 or e-mail us at firstname.lastname@example.org to learn more on how you can adopt Pennie.
All DAWG dogs are spayed/neutered, current on vaccinations, microchipped and are given flea & tick protection monthly. They are eligible for consultation with a trainer as needed.
