DAWG provides a safe and loving environment for dogs awaiting permanent adoption, and promotes their adoption through outreach programs in the Santa Barbara community.
Most of the dogs in our care come from Santa Barbara county shelters. Our primary goal is to reduce the rate of euthanasia in the county shelters by providing the medical care and training many dogs need for a second chance at life.
Since DAWG’s inception in 1991, we have worked hard to bring out the best in our dogs, improving their quality of life during their stay at the shelter, and placing healthy, well-behaved dogs back into the community.
Dog of the Week
“Be in love with your life, every minute of it!” This is Ben’s philosophy and boy does he live his life to the fullest! He’s an outgoing young man, who introduces himself to everyone he meets. He believes that he is a big dog stuck in a little dog’s body, and therefore prefers to socialize with bigger dogs. But as any good gentleman, he enjoys the company of small female dogs, and some smaller male dogs as well. He is potty trained, crate trained, leash trained and knows a few basic commands. He’s the kind of dog that you want waiting at home to greet you from a long day of work and the kind that will just jump in your arms to give you all of his love and affection! Ben a 2 year old, 8.5 pound, Jack Russell or Parson Russell mix. If Ben should like your ideal companion please call Dog Adoption & Welfare Group at (805) 681-0561 or e-mail us at firstname.lastname@example.org
